Steve Doodgson, Assistant Group Scout Leader, writes:
2nd West Kirby Sea Scout Group were set up in 1928 by Fred Heazell with £5 from the Methodist Church. The Group closed in 1939 for the war and reopened in 1944. We have celebrated our anniversaries since the date of reopening and this year sees 70 years of continuous nautical training for young people of the area.
A celebration event will be held on 21st June this year including the launching of 2 brand new sailing dinghies by our local MP Esther McVey and an open event at St Bridget’s field.
We invite all who have been connected with the Group in the past.
We are also researching the history of the Group. Does anyone have any old photographs of the group that they could dig out and share that we may be able to use in a display?
