The Dee Hotel (pictured) on Grange Road might actually become a hotel if a planning application is successful.
Pub chain and Dee Hotel owner J D Wetherspoon has submitted a planning application (details – submitted in March) to convert the upper floors of the pub into hotel accommodation consisting of 16 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. This pdf document includes photos of what some of the upper floor space currently looks like. There is no car parking facility at the Dee Hotel.
A lack of local hotel accommodation has long been a criticism of West Kirby. Many residents will recall the contentious plans for the Sail Hotel scheme at the Marine Lake. Does this proposal from JD Wetherspoon offer a solution or not? Have your say in the comments below.
