I am presuming that the construction work (pictured) opposite the Concourse is the start of the new petrol station. A new petrol station was a pre-condition of Aldi getting planning approval for their yet-to-built store in Bridge Road.
Can anyone confirm that is indeed the site of the new garage?

Yes it is. It is hoped it will be completed by end October at which point the existing facility on Bridge Road will close to make way for the New Aldi store

this building was something to do with bt or gpo situated not far from the white lion at the side of the new road that bounds the concourse.
