Here’s a rare view of Marine Lake, West Kirby. It’s an aerial view of Marine Lake taken in 1926 with the town immediately behind and then the fields of Hoylake, Frankby and Greasby beyond.
The structure that you can see in the righthand end of the lake must be the outdoor bathing pool in front of the old Hydro Hotel. There were several areas along the promenade that were either undeveloped or were used as public spaces.
This photo is one of a series of over 60 aerial photographs of Wirral made available in the Britain From Above website. More than 10,000 images from the Aerofilms Collection are being conserved and digitised by English Heritage and the Royal Commissions on the Ancient and Historical Monuments for Scotland and Wales.
