The Incredible Edible community gardening project (that started in Todmorden I think) that has proved to be a success in Hoylake is now coming to West Kirby. In fact at time of writing, members of the group will be planting raspberry canes in Grange Community Park at the end of Lang Lane (access just passed the scout hut).
The idea of the project is to grow fruit and veg in containers of all types in lots of different, accessible locations in and around West Kirby. In Hoylake for instance, you’ll find fruit trees in the local parks, herbs growing in containers outside shops along Market Street, rhubarb growing on the platform of the train station (as pictured). Better still, you can help yourself to the produce! Yep, the fresh produce is there for you to pick for free.
