As local residents will know, West Kirby promenade was adversely affected by yesterday’s storm sturge. As you can see from the video above filmed by local resident Joe K, trapped outside a front door, even a heavy car like a Volvo estate was no match for the power of strong winds and surging water. The River Dee not only flooded the promenade but also Coronation Park and local roads were closed to traffic.
It seems that weather conditions were worse at West Kirby than at Hoylake, though the sea wall along Hoylake now requires some urgent repair works.
